From the South - March 2025

My brothers, this month I will speak about the importance of Prudence, one of the four cardinal virtues, and a fundamental piece for becoming better man.

When we talk about prudence, we refer to the wise and cautious approach to decision making, actions, and speech.  It means to be mindful of the consequences of our actions while considering the well-being of others; avoiding harm or offense.

One may ask, how can I exercise prudence?  Well, it is simple: practice discretion with words and actions and avoid disclosing confidential information or be mindful when speaking about sensitive topics. When making a decision, consider the potential consequences and how it may impact others, and remember to distance yourself from impulsive behavior.  To exercise prudence, it implies cultivating wisdom by applying knowledge and experiences to make informed decisions.  Remember, prudence also involves showing respect for others, their opinions, their limits, their beliefs, even when those may differ from your own.

By exercising prudence in your life, we, masons, help build trust and credibility among our communities, and it creates a culture of empathy, respect and understanding towards others.
